Return to the Arches

Last night I returned to the Viaduct armed with my remote switch for longer exposures.  This time I was looking for star trails beyond 20 mins and some cloud trails.  Well, the evening started (midnight) very grey and overcast and suddenly the skies cleared and I was treated to three hours of star gazing.  It was a magnificent sight and I ran a series of long exposures on this formidable structure. The first colour image is an exposure of 521 secs (roughly 8.6 mins) and if you look closely you’ll see the long star trails.

In the following two shots you can see passing clouds creating a perfect backdrop for the Viaduct.  I decided to stop a long exposure in order to capture their movement as they passed the arches and this is the result.
