One place I have come to love as a second home is the Island of Cruit. Cross a rickety bridge and drive the tiny dirt roads before arriving at your very own piece of paradise, Ireland style (rain, sleet, snow, and the occasional burst of sunshine). I am never deterred by the forecast because Cruit island always has a habit of surprising you. This little Island hosts some of the best well kept beaches this side of the Atlantic and although their beauty is hard to match, these beaches come with a warning. Heavy undercurrents and strong rips reveal the true menace and power they possess.
Cruit also Hosts a formidable adversary in the guise of a Crag, the zawn in the picture below. Many climbers have deftly engaged the walls of this beautiful rock in search of their own freedom. Colmcille Climbers Donegal offer some advice on your approach and ascent.
