Joanne and Gareth’s wedding was one of the very few weddings I shot this year in blazing sunshine. Many couples go abroad seeking the scorched earth of sun kissed countries but every now and then, (once a year maybe ) Ireland gives them a run for their money.

When I shoot a wedding I often make friends along the way. The guests, friends and family at Orla and Dermot’s wedding were definitely no exception. So much so that I ended up staying well over my allotted time photographing and chatting to people I had bumped into during the day. It’s a difficult job [...]

Some couples sit at the top of the altar hearts pounding out of their chests and some couples……. pull faces. It’s one of the very few times that I have nearly lost it at a wedding I was photographing. Lets just say that I was caught unawares! In that brief moment though I realised that [...]

I am always humbled when I am chosen to shoot a wedding but even more so when I was asked to capture my older brother’s wedding. It was a fantastic day and both Margaret Anne and Tony had a real blast. They were very lucky with the weather as it had rained the day before and [...]

I had no such troubles using a technique which allows me to control my light in such a way that it fills the room and provides a [...]

I headed out with Orla and Dermot on Saturday to Lady Dixon Park in Belfast for their Pre-wedding shoot. We got very lucky and were treated to not only sunshine but a sprinkle of snow to set the scene for the perfect winter shoot.

One of the highlights of my year was shooting the wedding of Tasneem and Abrar and their lovely families. I had never shot a Muslim wedding before and it was a truly amazing experience. Thanks again guys and I hope you enjoy your new life together!

When I purchased my first speedlight (on-camera flash) long ago I was never impressed by the results. If I shot the speedlight directly onto my subject the light was flat and I usually ended up with heavy shadows in the background. Then came the revelation of bouncing flash off the ceiling, thus removing any shadows [...]

Aideen and Declan recently had their engagement/pre-warmup shoot. Despite the torrential rain and muddy conditions, they were great sports and I thoroughly enjoyed the shoot. This is a service I provide free of charge for my wedding clients. I can already hear my fellow wedding photographers ask why do I provide this service for free? [...]
